MEZCAL VERDE: How did your interest in art and illustration begin?
SKY IRAHETA: My interest in art, especially digital art, began when I had my first approach to Cinema 4D ( 3D software ), I began to understand it and realized that it was the medium with which I could express myself.
MV: How did your Skytea project begin?
YES: Skytea just happened, I started creating art under that name and it stayed that way.
MV: What is the part of your job that you enjoy most?
YES: I enjoy the fact that there are no limits to the ability to create.
MV: What techniques do you use?
SI: I consider one of my main techniques to be perspective. A lot of the perspective in my art is looking from a very low point up or very far away from the main object. I think about creating the feeling that everything around us is massive.
MV: What is the narrative of your work?
SI: Dreams have always been a big part of my life. I've always been able to lucid dream, I can even remember some of the first dreams I had as a child. My goal in life was to be able to recreate them visually, to recreate those strange moments when you can't remember if something really happened or if you just dreamed it. That's why the main theme in my field is surrealism.
MV: What is the inspiration behind your label for Mezcal Verde?
SI: The main inspiration comes from those happy moments with friends. The energy you feel when you drink with your loved ones, fills you with a warm feeling in more ways than one. Honey represents the moment when you close your eyes just to take it all in. Life becomes a little more whimsical, a little more vibrant.
