Mezcal Amarás Cupreata is the winner of the double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition, which belongs to The Tasting Alliance, considered one of the most influential competitions for raising the reputation of many brands, which not only puts the name of Casa Amarás on high, but also that of our producers and that of Mexico.

Mezcal Amarás Cupreata won the gold medal in the Best Of Class category as the best of all the mezcals entered in the competition and the gold in Best In Show, which places it as the best white drink, competing against other spirits of this type such as rum, tequila and vodka.

Mezcal Amarás Cupreata has several characteristics that make it unique in its kind. It is handcrafted in Guerrero, together with master mezcaleros in the town of Tixtla, on the banks of the Balsas River. The agave used for its production is called Cupreata, also known as Papalote, which has a growth period of up to 13 years growing in the highest jungles, at an altitude between 1,000 and 1,500 meters above sea level. Its fermentation is done naturally, without sulfites, in open-air vats made of pine wood, and like the rest of the Casa Amarás mezcals, it is a 100% sustainable product.

The process to qualify for a medal consists of blind tastings in controlled environments, where the judges have no information about the product, price or owners so that all spirits can be judged fairly. During the tasting, judges evaluate each product individually and determine which entries are worthy of a gold, silver or bronze medal. Entries that receive a gold medal from all judges on a panel earn a double gold award, as was the case for Mezcal Amarás Cupreata.

The official tasting notes describe Mezcal Amarás Cupreata as "a superb unsmoked example of the great complexity, elegance and finesse possible from this exciting and newly popular category."
